FAA Part 141 Flight Training Programs in the United States
FAA Part 141 flight schools offer a structured, syllabus-based approach to pilot training. These programs follow FAA-approved curricula with defined stages and progress checks, making them a strong fit for students who want a clear training path and consistent pace.

Part 141 training tends to align best with career-oriented pilots, university aviation programs, VA-funded students, and anyone who prefers a formal training environment over flexible, self-paced instruction.
Popular Part 141 Programs
Some well-known Part 141 training programs in the U.S. include:
-
University of North Dakota (UND Aerospace)
-
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
-
Purdue University Aviation
-
Various FAA-certificated academies and collegiate programs nationwide
This is not an exhaustive list, but a starting point for comparing established programs.
Official FAA Part 141 School Database
The FAA maintains a public database of all approved Part 141 pilot schools in the United States. This is the best source to confirm a school’s certification status and location:

Training Costs (What to Expect)
Costs at Part 141 schools vary widely. Total cost depends on aircraft type, instructor rates, location, training frequency, simulator use, and overall program structure. Note that Part 141 training costs would also include tuition and other fees (such as those found at a University). No two Part 141 programs price the same, even if they offer similar certificates.
My Experience at UND
I completed my flight training at the University of North Dakota as part of a degree program. The biggest advantage was the structure—clear progression from PPL through Instrument, Commercial, Multi-Engine, CFI, CFII, and a jet transition course, all integrated into an academic path. The systemized training environment helped maintain consistency and momentum throughout each rating.
